Luxury small hotels in Saint-Malo
The sight of Saint-Malo is impressive. The fortified island retains the look of a medieval fortified city and it has been unspoiled by the passage of time.
In terms of plant layout, Saint-Malo has set up a highly original, successful technique to combat the spectacular flooding it has suffered.
In fact, during the equinoctial tides, the high tide can rise more than 13 metres. The town was therefore regularly faced with its rainwater system overflowing. The solution was the creation of 25 holding basins in the town able to absorb the excess water. These basins may be dry or built to contain water, but all are landscaped, combining usefulness with ornamentation.

Thanks to the northern Gulf Stream there is not much of a variation in the climate in Brittany and around Saint-Malo. The area is generally mild, and while there a great amount of rain throughout the year, which gives the area a lush green look, it is never very heavy.
