Castles and Hotels in Krakow

Ancient royal city and capital of Poland until the 17th century, ranked one of the twelfth more picturesque cities of the world by Unesco, European capital of culture in 2000, "the Italian" Krakow can compete with the most beautiful Europe cities.
The architectural whole of Wawel - the castle and the cathedral -, perched up on the Wawel hill, dominates one of the Vistule meanders: it is one of the most precious of the country. The castle, which has been the historical residence of Poland kings, is a jewel of Roman Art, with Gothic and Renaissance-style. It contains huge collections such as the world's largest collection of Flanders Tapestries.
Intellectual center of Poland, Krakow is proud to possess one of the oldest universities of Cental Europe, Jagellone University, founded in 1364. Among its most popular students we can name the astronomer Nicolas Copernic or the former Pope John Paul II.

With its numerous souvenir shops and its bretzels and bagels' sellers at every corner, Krakow has become a national and international touristic reference since the end of Communism. It welcomes every year more than 200,000 visitors: mainly Germans, Italians and Americans. Kracow is also the point of departure for excursions like the visit of salt mines in Wieliczka, the discovery of wooden churches or of the mountains in Tatras, the visit of Częstochowa, of the former concentration camp of Auchwitz, or of the national park of Ojców.
