For the price we paid, it was very very disappointing. I would never recommend your hotel. Bathroom very small, dirty and up ti standard. You profess to be a Bio Hotel, but waisting water in wash basin( no stopper) and waiting a long fir hot water is not very environmentally friendly. Also nylon Tea Bags is a no, no!

We think that the hotel is no 5 star compatible, the restaurant ( Michelin star ) was closed. The Bistro was ok, but 4 days the same small menue for lunch and dinner !! is poor. The location of breakfast was not appealing. outside no possibility to have breakfast is not understandable.. The reception was not occupied during the night. This is a no go. Nobody was reachable and it was no information in the rooms and anywhere what to do in an emergency. We had at midnight fire alarm and nobody could stop this.

I had a good stay! Only negative was the room I stayed in 14 was quite a bit noise due to a family with children staying close. I overheard another guest talked to the front desk about the same issue. Also the INTERNET WAS VERY POOR. Most of the time it was unacceptable. Other than that I loved the property. Thank you!

Hotel receptionist was on the phone for long time when we arrived without paying attention for us. Had to wait more than 10 minutes until she finished the conversation. Seemed restaurant for dinner was limited to long stay customers, because we requested to book it but reception said restaurant is not opened. But in fact, several guests were having dinner. Instead of to use hotel restaurant, I asked to book external restaurant to receptionist. However what she reserved was Merucure hotel's restaurant of which rate was much lower than average of Orange's restaurants. We didn't go there, but we rebooked by ourselves. Location, facility and cleanness were quite good, but in overall, cost performance is not so attractive. I see several points that the hotel is trying to save running cost, but price setting is high. (e.g. breakfast)

Our 2nd visit. Still as beautiful, we loved our luxe garden room. The new Michelin restaurant is amazing(in the chateau court yard, by the fountain and under the stars) perfect food with lovely theatre to enjoy, a real experience. We were recommended to lovely local restaurants on our other nights. Manou on reception checked us in and out, such a friendly welcome from her. Her English is excellent and my French is terrible, she was really helpful. We will be back.

No information when we booked the room, that the restaurant and bar is closed!!! Internet didn‘t work at all in the room32! Breakfaststaff not helpful. No froed egg or poched eggs in an hotel of thos qualety is a non go!!

We booked a suite at the hotel after a very long time journey. Unfortunately there was no food at all (apart from breakfast) available for the two nights we were there. There was a fridge in the room which was completely empty, no milk available. There was a chandelier that was really dusty as well as the dust in the mirrors and lampshades. Most disappointingly the toilet was stained which was not appealing at all.

We had a wonderful New Year at The Chateau Massillon for New Years Eve. We would like to return one summer to see if the gardens are better kept up, as it is obvious that plans are in place for a lovely kitchen garden. The staff were all very well trained and excellent at their respective jobs. Many thanks.

La chambre n'a ni la propreté, ni le niveau sanitaire requis pour un hôtel de cette classe : les WC sont entartrés, ce qui démontre un entretien défaillant de longue date. Les traces et la poussière sur les tables de nuit démontre un entretien récent défaillant. Les moutons sous le lit... je passe. La femme d'entretien qui nous demande à quelle heure elle peut passer, soit... le fait qu'a 14 heures elle ne soit pas passée, inacceptable. Et par dessus tout, le fait qu'on la rencontre dans le parc à 16 heures (devant le spa) et en tenue de travail est inadmissible. En période de Covid, on ne doit pas porter la tenue de travail en dehors de la zone de travail. C'est contre les règles sanitaires, la tenue de femme de chambre ne peut pas être portée dans le jardin. Trop de lacunes pour un hôtel de ce standing. Si je viens à Massillan, je suis en droit d'attendre que ma sécurité sanitaire sera assurée. On m'a demandé de "montrer patte blanche" (pass sanitaire à jour), alors il faut que VOUS, vous soyez sans reproche aussi. Et ce n'est pas le cas. Pour le reste, félicitations à tout le personnel du restaurant, en particulier au sommelier qui a du talent et un bon sens d'observation. Personnel très poli, peut-être un peu jeune de façon générale, car on sent un manque d'expérience, même si le niveau est très bon. L'expérience apporte un recul qui est très bien perçu par le client, en particulier la capacité à l'humour.

We were not shown around the hotel . There were 2 main courses on the menu and 1 was unavailable. We had to wait an hour before being given a reasonable alternative. We booked with 2 dogs but we’re not told they couldn’t come into the dining room. The approach to our bedroom was very poor. There were no rugs or anything to give a warm atmosphere in our room. The bathroom was gorgeous. It had no atmosphere if a chateau but was very expensive. We had been to a glorious chateau the day before for half the price!! We were very disappointed.

Les salles de bain et le mobilier des chambres sont désuets et ne sont pas au niveau de confort attendu pour un hôtel de cette catégorie. Piscine pas ouverte et spa non compris dans le prix des chambres. Le rapport qualité prix n’est pas satisfaisant. Le restaurant du soir ne propose pas de plats simples à la carte.

The hotel is great, but we were disappointed in the cleanness of the room. We’ve mentioned it already in the evening by the receptionist, they promised to clean it. But when we came back from diner everything was still the same. This overshadowed our stay at the hotel. And it’s pity because of the location, the grandeur of the hotel.

Booked the place randomly on the road by intuition, as that’s how best places are found. I was positively surprised many ways. Only things to mention could be breakfast, which had rather poor selection especially anything green, yet being in middle of great countryside. Also in this level, rooms should have Nespresso or similar machines. In my room 17, being full of character as bathroom was in old tower, shower space had humidity/water damages: space should be tiled, not just painted. Massage at spa didn’t quite match the price, yet understandable having pro staff in location like this in short notice is not always easy. Dinners were spectacular, quality of food and how they were presented, were extremely high. Relaxed attitude of most of the staff was also positive, as in place like this you seek for relaxed atmosphere.

This was a great hotel with some small flaws. I normally don't write reviews but for some reason felt compelled for this one. Overall I would recommend it but it doesn't qualify as outstanding, or highly recommended. The reasons for this were just some small things round the edges that need improving. For example: on arrival (we did arrive late - 11pm) we were quickly shown to our room by the only person on the late shift who quickly bid us goodnight, but didn't check to ask about our preferences for breakfast, or if we'd like to make any spa bookings. Nothing directly wrong with this but it doesn't compare to a typical more premium establishment - he was rushing off back to his duties, and we didn't want to keep him. Or for example, the spa is pretty great, but there were no towels in the male changing room, the standard sauna was off, the ice machine wasn't working, and the herb sauna is not really particularly hot, or for example the first time, we waited for 10 minutes for someone to come to the spa reception to open the door to go in, and nobody came, and eventually we left. Bedroom was overall great and enchanting, but some tiles in the bathroom floor were loose, and the bath leaked when used so we just avoided it (didn't have time to complain and get it fixed). Food was good but slightly overpriced, and the main restaurant wasn't working except for Thurs - Sunday which was disappointing and not something we thought we would have to check on booking. However, all that said the venue is stunning, the grounds are beautiful and there are a lot of good points, but just be aware it lives up to it's 4-star rating, and don't expect any more than this and you will be satisfied.

The AC in the room was both extremely noisy and inefficient. You should buy more expensive AC, they make less noise. And the sound insulation between the rooms is terrible. It was difficult to sleep. Everything else at the hotel was great but a hotel is for sleeping and it's difficult to sleep in a hot and noisy room.

A beautiful castle nested in the middle of the countryside with superbe surroundings. Delicious breakfast and the spa is 5 stars. The decor and the rooms are luxurious. Don’t forget to book your spa session and your treatments! You must experience it! A shame the gastronomic restaurants were not opened longer and more often during the week especially during summer. But a great experience overall for our wedding anniversary! Thank you

Beautiful hotel. The evening meal was excellent- good service and quality of food. Bar man was very friendly but usually bar was empty so we had to walk back to reception to ask for service. At check-in we were not given any information about the hotel facilities - we did not know opening times of bar/restaurant, options for lunch, spa options etc. website mentioned wine growing but we did not find any info on this. We were not informed that the restaurant was closed on Sunday (except breakfast) or given any help to find somewhere to eat. We had to drive around for over one hour to find an open supermarket to purchase bread and cheese to eat. Hotel would benefit from better communications and information to guests. In the room- good size and good terrace. Very clean. Lovely bathroom. But no mirror at all (other than in bathroom). It would be good to have a mirror in the main bedroom. The breakfast was not good value: limited options (no information that we could order different egg options- we saw someone else do this on our third morning). The scrambled eggs were only warm, not hot. For 22euros each per day we expected more. Overall it was a lovely hotel but service at reception (information etc) could be improved to make guest experience more special. We did not feel “looked after” and often walked around trying to find someone to ask a question. Disappointing as the hotel looks beautiful, the gardens and rooms are well maintained and lovely- just need to make guest experience better, and we would return.

Everything at the hotel was excellent as it was before when we stayed in May...except for the "Bistrot" dinner. It is such an odd place to have people have a nice dinner, actually like a conference room...bright lights and kind of an afterthought. Certainly not the kind of place we would want a dinner, or even lunch, in such a nice a place as Chateau Massillan. This was the only thing out of place.

nous avons été très déçu de ne pas avoir bien été informé de la très faible disponibilité du restaurant. nous sommes venu 3 jours pour y manger et n'avons finalement pas pu y aller. une seule fois.

Overal a satisfacties experience. We did not have dinner at the restaurant because of the price of the menu(€150 pp+ wine € 80 pp means € 500 for dinner. That may be accepable for a special occasion but not for when you just stay for a night while travelling

Not enough choices at the restaurant. We understand that this is a gastronomic restaurant however since the portion was small we would have appreciate an entry or cheese platter after the main course. There was not butter with the bread and the bread removed as soon as the main dish was over. We finished the dinner being hungry.

Return visit after 11 years and once what was an Englishman’s passion is now, despite lots of new owner investment, an unfriendly, understaffed,non welcoming confusion of an establishment where guests are not valued and at every conceivable opportunity they charge for extras that would be free at hotels of a lower class. There are so many better places to stay where city will be welcomed and valued we will never return and you should stay away !

Love the peaceful location, our 4th stay Check in experience could be improved, service not as good as before Staff not accommodating - wanted to have a drink/ snack/ food on arrival which turned out very difficult, staff suggested to sit outside rather than in the Bistro - despite tables available, in the afternoon heat ??? Instead of helping they first answer is always a no - disappointing Could not enjoy the SPA, and had to cancel my daughters treatments as we could not check out late, would have loved to spend time inbrünstig SPA Love the food - exquisite flavors!! Hope the service will improve again for a better experience, would love to go back again

We very much enjoyed our stay with you and would come again. We do feel that some attention would need to be given to the uneven floor in our bedroom which resulted in us both hurting our feet on the broken tiles and small concrete step entering the bathroom which needs to be addressed before someone injures themselves and ruins their holiday. The other matter was the lack of any drawers for storage and little hanging space resulting in us living from our suitcases rather than unpacking properly. The food in the hotel was wonderful but not something you would eat every evening. With no local restaurants to speak of without a long drive, it would also make sense for some other food options to be available in the main dinning room.

Prima hotel, rustig gelegen, perfecte geluidsisolatie in de kamer., vriendelijk personeel. Degelijk ontbijt, alleen de prijs hiervoor volkomen onduidelijk: bij booking : €19, op kamer vermelding : €22 … bij afrekening: €25 ! Dit kan niet! Prijzen voor drankjes veel te hoog vooral voor wat men uiteindelijk krijgt. In deze periode, juli - augustus fungeert dit hotel vooral als transitplaats: kort intermezzo verblijf voor doorreizigers of terugkeerders en dat merk je toch wel wat aan de service en voorzieningen.

Poor ac. Breakfast awful. Bar shut till 19.30 but bicycle tour had drinks at 19.00 which was very annoying as we like to have a pre dinner drink. Roman was a shining light on reception but the other gentleman was miserable and unhelpful. We are not putting a TripAdvisor comment as the lady was very apologetic when we checked out.

Nous connaissons le Château depuis plus de 20 ans et avons toujours eu beaucoup de plaisir à y revenir. Un petit bémol pourtant, la musique répétitive diffusée dans tous les endroits est de trop à notre avis. A part cette petite remarqué, nous reviendrons !

Hotel was fine, nice location. There was little or no service on the terrace. The 4-course dinner consisted of 2 deserts, so half of the wine arrangement consisted of dessert wine. That is quite a lot. The price for dinner and wine pairing was therefore very expensive.

The chateau was fabulous except we were very disappointed that we couldn’t get in to the restaurant M. We assumed as guests, there would be space for 2 but there wasn’t. Would have appreciated an email letting us know that if we wanted to eat in the restaurant we should book in advance and we would have done so. Also there was no other food service and very limited bar service (bar wa never open). We would have spent more money had these been available.

The castle and surroundings are beautiful. The reception was not friendly: we had to wait for the room as we were early, but we were not informed when the room was ready. The breakfast was Ok, but we had to pay Euro 25 pp which is rather expensive.

Bel endroit magnifiquement rénové. Service moyen, notamment la réception peu agréable et pas très disponible. Dommage que le spa soit payant même pour les résidents. Le restaurant « gastro » est un peu surfait, plus intéressant que vraiment bon. La terrasse de la piscine n est pas nettoyée d un jour à l autre (cendriers pleins, vieux linges qui traînent). Un mention spéciale pour le sommelier qui est aussi passionnant que passionné. Globalement le rapport qualité prix est moyen même si notre séjour était agréable.

Les portions de l'assiette de fromages étaient un peu minimalistes. Un amuse-bouche avec la coupe de St. Péray et une mignardise avec le café auraient été bienvenus. La veilleuse du miroir de salle de bain éclaire trop la chambre la nuit
