The Yangtze Hotel in Shanghai, inaugurated in 1933, stands as a remarkable testament to cultural and historical significance, bearing the imprint of its designer, the architect Li Pan, who honed his skills in Belgium. The prevailing design echoes the Art Deco style that flourished in Europe during the 1920s and 1930s. A distinctive feature is that this modern establishment, conceived and overseen by Chinese minds, swiftly became a coveted social hub for luminaries soon after its inception. Garnering the acclaim of being the "third-largest hotel in the Far East," it also holds the distinction of being the birthplace of the timeless song "Rose, Rose, I Love You." Notably, the hotel played host to the inaugural Chinese jazz band led by Li Jinhui, a figure often hailed as the "Father of Chinese Popular Music.
